In the middle of coughing my way through walking pneumonia and cleaning up from barfing toddler,
I was thrilled to see the first seed catalog show up today.
(There's always something to be thankful for!)
I was unsuccessful in convincing the Tornado that the girl on the cover was NOT actually her.
Last year I ordered all my seeds from E&R Seed and was very happy with both the prices and the quality of seed. They are an Amish company, I believe, and don't have a website or email. You also have to calculate your own shipping, which is a bit tricky. I actually overpaid on the shipping and received back a little envelope with change in it when my seeds arrived!
Edit: You can call E&R at (866) 510-3337 and request a catalog ... thanks Crafty Cristy for reminding me to put that info in!
Last year I got the first seed catalog on December 3, so the seed dreaming months of winter must be beginning a little early this year!
What is your favorite place to order seeds?
Can you let us know how to contact them? Sorry that family has been sick. Hope everyone is better soon.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered a bunch of seeds from Seed Savers Exchange. They specialize in heirloom plants and are having a sale right now...50% off!
ReplyDeleteI still am trying lots of different folks. I love Renees and definitely Hudson Valley which is more local..then I also like Seed Savers...I do try many different ones sometimes to find unusual seeds...hope you feel better soon...
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the family has been sick. I haven't received any catalogs yet this year--that seems very early. Have fun selecting your seeds!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound like a fun time to be a mommy. Moms have to keep going even when they're sick. I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon. I buy seeds from here and there - no particular place, as long as they're heirlooms!
ReplyDeleteI love pouring over seed catalogs but I'm still looking for a good company to get open pollinated untreated seeds in Canada. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteThese days I order pretty much all of my seeds online but I very much miss having an actual catalogue to pour over and circle things in. My favourite was a company I used when I lived in the UK called Chiltern seeds - they have a really long catalogue with fabulous descriptions of the plants - just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI was able to request a catalog using their email address: eandrseed@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI am considering purchasing their canning jars. Have you used them? I'd love to talk with someone who has experience with them.
