Somehow on Mondays, all the thoughts I didn't think about over the weekend suddenly vie for my brain space. I've started and restarted this blog post nearly 10 times in my mind, and I'm getting nothing logical.
So I'm just going to type out the randomness and see what happens.
1. How on earth do you keep the blogs you read straight? I'm usually overly organized, but I've got some blogs bookmarked, some on Blotanical, some on Google, some in the deep recesses of my memory...you get the idea.
2. Woke up this morning and was very pleased to find a new hoya leaf. This plant is a cutting from my great-grandmother's hoya...I very nearly killed it, but this is the first sign of growth in over a year.
3. The dirty clothes in the laundry room are nearly ready to rise up in revolt and stage a revolution. I'm just going to stay out of the there until the political situation cools down.
4. The indoor plants must be getting jealous of the outdoor plants, because they are all going downhill. Look at this pitiful thing!
5. I need to take some time and find out how to get my photos uniformly sized when I post them. I want to find a way to do it automatically so I don't have to edit each one. And I'm grieved to find out that I can't get Blogger to thread comments. Or do any number of cool comment functions.
6. I've been in a yellow mood recently, and have been adding lots of yellow in my house. Was finally able to find a couple spare minutes to paint this dandelion (which has been on my to-do list for over a week now!)
7. There is no chocolate in the house.
8. Tree swallows are now the third resident in the bluebird house. Which is better than the house sparrows that were there previously, I suppose. But I miss seeing the bluebirds.
9. I went to an awesome plant swap this weekend with my friend Darcy...we were late, so it was a bit crazy, but I have a whole load of free plants! Plus the skies opened and poured on us - my stroller will probably never be the same again.
10. It's probably my own fault that I'm not thinking clearly today. I stayed up much too late finishing a book (which wasn't worth staying up late for anyway), but I have a bad habit of just wanting to finish the book already because I go to bed.
Mercy. I'm off to see if I can remedy #7. (That's the chocolate one!)
Hanni, I love your painting!!! Just beautiful. Good luck on your chocolate hunt too =)
ReplyDeleteLovely dandelion!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much that goes into keeping a home & loving our husbands & kids that it often feels like a run-together mess in my head also. Thanks for sharing some more of your life on a crazy monday.
I prefer Wordpresses reply to comments also. It would be easier to use.
I already had my choc chips for the day. Hope you find some too!
Julie
Aaah! I was feeling kinda relaxed before I read what's in your brain! :) Clearly chocolate is the only way to settle things down. Loooove your dandelion. Fantastic. Did you really paint it yourself?!
ReplyDelete@Julia: Thank you. Alas, the chocolate hunt was unsuccessful.
ReplyDelete@WMG: Yes, it is a never-ending circle, but it's a blessing, too! (I remind myself of that often.) Wordpress is MUCH better at comments...I wish I had those options.
@veggie: Heh, heh. :) Clearly I need to restock my chocolate supply! And yes, I did paint the dandelion. I should do a tutorial post...it was very simple.
I agree with the others -- chocolate will do you a world of good! I think I need some now, too. I always enjoy your honesty, Hanni!
ReplyDeleteI am chuckling all the way through your post! I love how your brain thinks like mine! Your painting is fabulous! Your houseplants will perk up again, I assume you've remedied your chocolate situation (that would be a catastrophe in my house) and if you find answers to #1 and #5 please share! I struggle with those issues as well. Hope the rest of your week calms down a little bit.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I read all have a different feel from one another. That's mostly how I keep them all straight.
ReplyDelete@PlantPostings: Hee hee, thank you!
ReplyDelete@Karin: I will let you know if I have any revelations. It's just usually Monday morning that is a little wild- the rest of the week gets into a regular rhythm.
@Tracy: That's true, they do!
1. Wish I had an answer. 3. That sounds like the best idea - I'm going to implement it right away. 6. LOVE THAT! 7. Me, neither. :( Oh, wait! I think there's some girl scout cookies in the freezer!!!! :) Cute post!
ReplyDelete@Holley: Girl scout cookies? Now I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteHanni - it is definitely a challenge keeping the blogs straight in the beginning - but soon they have personalities and looks of their own and you begin to associate something with each one and that helps. I have a hard time reading all I want to read just because of time - but I use my blogger roll, looking at it daily, and I use my favorites tab on blotanical where the posts of all those bloggers I've faved are listed. About comments - I bet everyone using blogger wishes the comments feature was better. I don't always go back to a post to see if the blog owner has replied to my comment and I assume others are the same. So I may leave a reply message on Blotanical or send a direct e-mail if the commenter's e-mail address is available. One of my favorite bloggers does that often, and I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Terrific post. We've all been there.
ReplyDelete1. yeah, tricky. I check some in google reader and those I have not subscribed to I just check by scrolling down my own blogroll list on my blog and click down the line...
4. never had much luck with houseplants myself. Is that an avocado?
5. do you have a MAC or a PC? When I upload into WordPress from iPhoto I think it takes care of making them all the same size for WordPress...I think. ;)
6. !!! Love that dandelion painting! Gorgeous!
7. tragedy!
9. free plant swap? this is something I need to find in my area.
10. totally been there. At least the book is finally done!
For what it's worth, I like WordPress a lot - no problems so far.
Must be spring! I can certainly relate to this post, and find that when I write all my queries/ quandries out like you did, they often seem suddenly less harrowing. (Mind you, the lack of chocolate can be quite worrisome!)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm happy for you that you found some time to finish that awesome painting. I spent lots of time this winter doing sketches of plants, but now that things are growing/ blossoming, I haven't done any at all! Seeing your painting reminds me that it may be worth picking up those pencils again.
Mt guess is that as soon as you sort out #7, the rest will all seem less problematic :)
ReplyDeleteThe laundry will wait but you definitely need to take care of that chocolate situation! I feel the same as you about keeping up with all the blogs I read...I feel like they are stashed everywhere. I love them all in different ways and just try to keep up with them the best I can.
ReplyDeleteHanni - I agree with Ginny, sorting out blogs is especially challenging in the beginning and then 'personalities' become evident, so it gets easier to remember 'who's who'.
ReplyDeleteMy blog roll helps with websites I may not visit as frequently and Blotanical's 'my favorites' is probably where I go to first. Sometimes, I just sit on one or two blog sites and get caught up on posts that I've missed. (it's really hard to keep up with them all, there is such creativity)
@Ginny: I am incredibly envious of the replyme feature that wordpress users have. :) It's difficult to know how to respond, especially when email addresses aren't available! Thanks for sharing what works for you!
ReplyDelete@redgardenclogs: a PC, alas. :) It's supposed to be a money tree, and it's the funniest thing. It looks like its near death, then it will come out with loads of new leaves. Wierd.
@Kate: oh yes, get out those pencils! :) I too, find its a lot less daunting when I get my list out of my head & on paper.
ReplyDelete@Christine: You got it!
@Cat: I know what you mean. I find at least one new blog every day...my reading list just keeps getting bigger & bigger.
ReplyDelete@Shrylene: Yup, they are all different, and I am so thankful for that! My organizing side just wants them to be all conveniently located together, haha.
